The bridge links the island of Ireland and a small island named “Carrickarede” (in English – “rock of the casting”). It is about 30 metres above sea level. Nowadays Carrick-a-Rede bridge is mainly popular among tourists (The bridge is open all year round and there is a small fee you have to pay for crossing it) it used to help salmon fishermen to get to the small island of Carrickarede.
