Kamabuchi Falls, Japan

Kamabuchi Falls, Japan

Kamabuchi Falls is a waterfall that slides on the large bedrock of Daikawa near Hanamaki Onsen.

Around Kamabuchi Falls, there is a monument related to Kenji Miyazawa and a sundial designed by him.

On March 2, 2005, Kamabuchi Falls was designated as one of the national scenic spots “Ihatov Scenic Area”. “Ihatov” is a word coined by Kenji Miyazawa that means utopia.

If you take a leisurely walk and listen to the sound of the Kamabuchi Falls and think about what kind of world Kenji envisioned for “Ihatov”, you will be able to touch a part of Kenji’s world.
