Fly Geyser – Nevada, USA

Fly Geyser, also known as Fly Ranch Geyser is a small geothermal hot spring in which water intermittently boils, sending a tall column of water and steam into the air. The Geyser is situated in Hualapai Flat, on a distance of about 536 meters from State Route 34 and visible from the road.

Located on the private Fly Farm, Fly Geyser is attainable only from a small private dirt road. The farm is currently owned by Todd Jaksick. There is a high fence and a locked gate topped with spikes to exclude trespassers. Some people jump the fence to get a better look regardless of the booby traps. Several organizations have tried to purchase the land for conservation and make it open to the public, but have been denied.

Fly Geyser is a little-known tourist attraction, even to Nevada residents and only about 5 feet (1.5 m) high. The Geyser is said to be accidentally created in 1916 during well drilling but not an completely natural appearance.

The well was normally working until 1960s. In 1960s the water heated by geothermal process found a weak point in the wall and began eluding to the surface. Dissolved minerals started elevating and collecting, creating the mount on which the geyser sits, which continues growing.
